Whole-house ambition, with digital control doing the thinking.

The Voltura TP18E is where the lineup changes character. Its 18 kW output steps beyond the compact dial-controlled heaters into digital, automatically modulating tankless heating. In our heater-map sizing classes, it is a practical starting point for 1.5-to-2 bathrooms in moderate climates or 2-to-2.5 bathrooms in warm climates. For many two-bath homes, this is the entry point worth looking at when moving away from a storage tank.

The useful upgrade is not just the display on the front. Water-flow and temperature sensors help the TP18E adjust power to the heating elements to maintain your selected outlet temperature within its available capacity. Front power and temperature buttons keep control accessible, with a maximum setting of 125 degrees Fahrenheit. It activates at 0.5 GPM, and the 18 kW model uses 1/2-inch NPT water connections.

This is an indoor, wall-mounted heater with real electrical requirements: two separate 240V circuits, each protected by a 40A double-pole breaker, and 75A maximum listed current. It can also accept preheated water as a booster, adding another useful application to the digital platform. For the right household, the TP18E delivers a strong mix of capacity, automatic control and a five-year limited original-owner warranty without jumping straight to the larger models.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

  • What are the TP18E unit dimensions and weight?

The TP18E measures 15.52 x 4.49 x 13.9 inches and weighs 9.21 lb. Those are heater figures, not a freight or shipping-carton allowance. Installation space must also accommodate the plumbing, electrical connections, clearances and future service access.
  • Does the TP18E need filter cleaning or descaling?

Yes. Clean the digital heater's inlet pre-filter every six months. Mineral scale also requires attention: maintain the heater annually, or more often with unusually hard water. Service access and maintenance valves make this routine care easier.
  • How hot can I set the TP18E?

The maximum selectable temperature is 125 F, or 52 C, using the front temperature buttons. A hotter setting is not always better: water above 120 F can cause burns. Choose a temperature appropriate for the household and feel the water before bathing or showering.
  • Can I install the TP18E outside or mount it on its side?

The digital heater is intended for indoor household installation. It is mounted upright on the wall, with the water connections at the bottom, and protected from freezing, direct sun, splashing and excessive moisture. Plan an accessible location rather than placing it where later maintenance would be difficult.
  • What minimum flow starts the TP18E heating?

The activation threshold is 0.5 GPM through the heater. Below that, the heating elements may not turn on. Once it is running, colder incoming water and more simultaneously running fixtures increase the heating load, while the sensors adjust power toward your selected temperature.
  • Are the TP18E plumbing connections half-inch or three-quarter-inch?

The 18 kW model uses 1/2-inch NPT water connections. The larger TP24E, TP29E and TP36E models use 3/4-inch NPT. That distinction is useful when planning a replacement because similar-looking digital cabinets do not all have the same connection size.
  • What does automatic modulation do on the TP18E?

The TP18E uses water-flow and temperature sensors to adjust power to its heating elements as demand changes. Its aim is to maintain the outlet temperature you select, within the heater's available capacity. That is different from the smaller compact models, whose dial selects fixed LOW, MEDIUM and HIGH power levels.
  • What size household is the TP18E intended for?

Our kW-based heater-map guidance places the TP18E in the 1.5-to-2-bath class for moderate climates or 2-to-2.5 baths for warm climates. It is the starting point of Voltura's larger digital family. Incoming water temperature and the fixtures used together determine the final sizing choice.
  • How many electrical feeds and breakers does the TP18E require?

The TP18E uses two dedicated 240V circuits, each with a 40A double-pole breaker. Its maximum current is 75A, with two 8/2 AWG cable runs with ground and one 10 AWG ground conductor per circuit. This is not a single-breaker appliance; professional electrical planning and installation are essential.
  • Can the TP18E be used as a booster after another water heater?

Yes. The TP18E accepts preheated inlet water and can act as a booster. It is still a professionally installed tankless heater, with its own required circuits, plumbing and temperature limits; the existing hot-water system does not replace those requirements.
  • Will the TP18E still deliver 18 kW on 208V or 220V?

No. The 18 kW rating is at 240V. Output is lower at 220V and 208V, so a lower-voltage installation has less heating capacity. Match the hot-water sizing to the supply actually available rather than treating the model's maximum kW rating as unchanged at every voltage.
  • What warranty is supplied with the TP18E?

The TP18E comes with a five-year limited warranty for the original owner purchasing through an authorized reseller. Covered material, workmanship and leakage defects are addressed with a replacement part or heater. Labor and return transportation are not included; proper installation, operation and maintenance and the written exclusions remain part of coverage.
