QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • Can you replace the heating elements if they ever go out?

Yes you can but unlike conventional tanks these heating elements are proprietary and very durable very hard for them to go out on you.

  • You say that #8wire will work but #8 is not good for 75 amps

You're not reading the specs properly. The N180 is wired with 2) 40 amp double pole breakers and 8 gauge wire. Thats a total of 80 amp circuit divided by 2. Hope this clears it up for you. If it was a one (1) line heater it would be wired with 1) 80 amp double pole and 4 gauge THHN wire.

  • Are the fittings 3/4 compression or 3/4 NPT?

    3/4 compression.

  • What's the distance between pipes connections?

  • Do the a.c. disconnect boxes take the place of changing out the breakers at the main box? I have a 40 gallon hotpoint that I need to replace. In general am I going to have to run new wire from main box to power this or will the existing wires for the heater be sufficient. Thank you.

The existing wires for your current heater will not work. The disconnect(2) are installed right under the heater. But they do not eliminate the breakers. You will need 2- double 40 amp breaker with number 8/2 AWG wire to install this unit properly. To recap you will need 2 electrical circuits rate at 40 amp/ 220VAC each.
